pregnancy & weight gain

Why Do Women Gain Weight During Pregnancy?

ever since my bump started showing i received equally positive and negative remarks about my bump.. whilst many told me that i still looked the same only that my belly je yg membesar, dr blkg x nmpk preggy, etc.. i do receive a fair share of negative critism or stupid questions or weird remarks gak..

of course it doesnt help when i hv been wanting to lose weight after i got married and some people were very 'sensitive' to touch on my current size n weight issue.. ye la, lepas kawin terus membesar bagai johan from size XS to M.. yeppp 2 sizes up. but hey, i got feelings too you know.. and mind you, pregnant women are most likely more sensitive when issues like this are touched.. believe me, most of us are already very self conscious of our growing size.. we do not need to be reminded several times throughout the journey.

usually i will just smile and walk away.. but sometimes i cant help but fight back.. to me sometimes kena gak sekolahkan org2 'pandai bijaksana' ni kan..

amongst those stupid questions were:

Q: kenapa u makin gemuk ni?? (sedangkan mmg dah tau sgt2 m pregnant)
A: kenapa u makin tua ni???

Q: eee kenapa boncet semacam ni???? (again, mmg da tau sgt pregnant)
A: pernah kena terajang dgn pompuan mengandung??

among negative remarks were:

"hish mak buyong ni makan je keje nyerrrrr"
> pdhal baru je nk bfast.. or nk kena snacking like 3 keping biskut so tat tak gastric..

"perut u besar la.. i tgk perut Z tak besar mcm u pun.." (me and Z beza EDD 2 hari)
> ermm caner nk respond ek.. lain org lain ler perutnyer kan..

"hihihi pelik la i tgk u ada perut.. tak pernah tgk u pregnant.."
>ermm tis is my 1st time.. and tis statement lg la aku blur tak tau caner nk respond..

byk lg sbnrnyer tp tak igt plak at tis moment.. memang la our weight gain is not all the baby.. byk lg factors for the expanding size, and increase in weight. it is due to enlarged uterus, placenta and amniotic fluid. the rest of the weight gain comes from increased blood and body fluid.

so thank you so much to all of you for always reminding me that i am growing, that i look like a whale or a cow.. though u may not say it, that is how i interpret it.. maybe not all preggers feel the same way, but m sure m speaking on behalf of most of them.. we do have mirrors, and we are fully aware of the changes in our body.. please consider our feelings too..
